Colombia's National Police is an armed body, permanent civil nature, [1] in charge of maintaining public order and ensuring the nation's internal. [2] Established to protect all the people in your life, honor, property, beliefs and other rights and freedoms. [3] Established with special regime and discipline. [4] [5] in conjunction with the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) in Colombia make up what is called the security forces. [6 ] The President is the Chief Executive of the National Police, exercising its authority through the Minister of National Defense and the Director General of the National Police. [7] Since 1953 is attached to the Ministry of Defence. [8 ] It consists of 165 000 soldiers. [9] [10]
Colombians to contact the police to make toll-free: 112 (nationally) or 123 (in Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Medellín and Pereira) and in the case of a kidnapping, the group Gaula is reached at 165.
The National Police received from the Colombian Institute of Standards and Certification ICONTEC, certifications NTCGP 1000: 2004 and ISO 9001:2008 for all the processes, procedures, products and delivery services provided by the National Police and the community [11].
